PAIYA(U),a Movie by Lingusamy(Run,Sandakozhi,Bheema) is action flick starred by Karthi,Tamanna. The movie is an action entertainer(but it doesn't do the latter!!),The story revolves around Shiva(Karthi) and Charulatha(Tamanna),who have their sets of problems,Charulatha is chased by her family,as she is forced to marry someone she doesn't like,Its love at first sight for Shiva(regular tamil cinema at its best!),he chases Charulatha for a long time(a real set of boring sequences!),and finally she ends up on his car with a guy who is forcing her to goto chennai, they mistake him for a taxi driver(which he rather enjoys!).Romance is really portrayed well(nothing else is though!),it is not a drastic leap, but rather a slow and steady paced one.Listening to Tamanna's idea Karthi abandons the guy who brings Tamanna,at a petrol bunk. After this sequence the movie is basically like a road-trip,Tamanna asks Karthi to take her to her Grandma's house at Mumbai,Tamanna and Karthi slowly learn about each other, later on this reaveals about karthi's history as a flashback sequence,we learn Tamanna is not the only one on the run,but karthi is too(i mean RUN!!!,not the Maddy,Meera Jasmin starrer!).Karthi has a Don who is waiting to kill him at Mumbai (I again do not mean Sandakozhi, the Vishal,Meera Jasmin starrer!).Tamanna though has a good reception by her grandma, other relatives ask her to leave, and yes as you guess! the bad guys unite and there is a really big fight sequence at the end, which i rather enjoyed!(even though Karthi was a superhero in it!).And i need not tell you the ending you can easily guess !
Anand (Sachin) is an advertisement photographer. Quite typical to such genre of movies, he comes across Annalakshmi (Sunaina) , who is conservative in her looks. After a few initial encounters, the girl develops love for him.
But Anand has other plans. The mystery is soon unraveled and is made known that Anand hails from a family of doctors. When everyone thinks Anand will tie the knot to Annalakshmi, the twist occurs in the form of Anand accepting an arranged marriage. What transpires between the lead couple forms the rest of the story which ends in an interesting climax.
The story is all about a tug of war between two underworld gangs trying to outsmart each other. Periyavar’s (Raghuvaran) group is bigger and more powerful, while Chinna’s (Prakash Raj) group is struggling to gain strength.
Enters Shekar (Vikram). The powerful man adds new life to Chinna’s gang. He challenges Periyavar’s powerful troupe and puts Chinna on top. He is the man who grew up seeing Chinna as his idol and he is a man of steel - physically and mentally according to the movie. He, as Chinna tells once, bears everyone on his powerful shoulders like the Bheem of Mahabharatha.
The gangs are targeted by the new police commissioner (Ashish Vidyarthi) and the three pronged hunting begins. Later on Sekar leaves to settle with his girlfriend(Trisha), however Chinna's gang members want him back, even though Chinna wants Sekar to lead his own life. The unexpected bold climax shows the misunderstanding between Sekar and Chinna and in that process Chinna's gang kill Trisha, Sekar kills Chinna and the police kill Sekar.

At this very moment, a flashback unravels how Sankara Pandian's gang kills Thambi's family after Thambi identifies the killer of a youth. The murderer is Sanakara Pandian's brother Saravana Pandian (Shanmuga Rajeswaran).
Shankara Pandian tries to bring about terror among the people for political reasons while Thambi tries to prevent the disaster. Later on, Thambi succeeds in changing Shankara Pandian's heart. However, Saravana Pandian is out to kill him, after coming out of the prison. The rest of the film has exciting encounters and the movie ends with a titillating climax, on a positive note for everyone.
